Nancy Fancher Yates   

    

Nancy Fancher Yates attended Mississippi University for Women, where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education. She taught for many years in the Pensacola, Florida school system, the U.S. Army Schools in Germany, and in the Neshoba County Schools. She also taught at Bogue Chitto School for the Bureau of Indian Affairs. In 2005, Nancy was awarded an Honorary Doctorate degree from the Mississippi University for Women. 

Nancy has been and continues to be active in her community, where she has served as President of the Philadelphia Public School Board of Trustees, President of the Philadelphia-Neshoba County United Way, and Vice-President of the Philadelphia-Neshoba County Arts Council.  She is active in the Philadelphia Rotary Club and a Paul Harris Fellow.  Nancy is also involved in a literacy program sponsored by the Rotary Club, for which she reads to children in a local head start program. 

An advocate of education and the arts, Nancy has served as a Regional Director of and on the Mississippi State Board of Directors for the National Museum of Women in the Arts.  She is a former member of the Board of Directors of the Ohr-O’Keefe Museum of Art, and she presently serves as a Board Member of the Mississippi Museum of Art, the Mississippi University for Women Foundation and the Mississippi International Ballet Competition.  Nancy is also heavily involved in activities of the First United Methodist Church of Philadelphia where she has served in many roles including Administrative Board Member, Trustee and President of United Methodist Women. 

Nancy is married to Bill Yates, President of The Yates Companies, Inc.  Nancy and Bill recently celebrated their 43rd anniversary.  Their son, William G. Yates, III, and daughter-in-law, Tara, have two children, Abby and Gully, and reside in Biloxi.  Their daughter, Carolyn Y. Voyles, and son-in-law, Jason, have a son, Jack, and reside in Jackson.
